ClimEx 1900-2015 sea level hindcast in the North Atlantic

French National Research Agency (ANR) grant ClimEx (ANR-21-CE01-0004)

The dataset consists of hourly sea levels and surges over 1900-2015 in the North Atlantic, on a 0.1° grid (directory "HINDCAST" ) and extracted at 34 stations (directory “STATIONS”).

Xynthia storm (february 2010)

Sea levels come from numerical simulations over 1900-2015, using global ocean model TUGO (Lyard et al., 2021), forced by 20 Century Reanalysis (Slivinski et al., 2019). Surges are obtained removing from the sea levels the tide and the mean sea level. The tide and mean sea level are computed over 1900-2015, using the Tidal Toolbox for the grid hindcast (99 components, Allain, 2021) and Utide for the stations (65 components, Codiga, 2011).

Note that harmonic constituents Sa, Ssa and S1 are not included in the tide (thus retained in the storm surge), as they are mainly radiational.
